Bushings
Bushings are another little part that can make a big difference in the performance of your vehicle. Small flexible suspension components, usually made of rubber or polyurethane, bushings isolate vibration, reduce friction, and provide cushioning, making for a smoother ride. You most often hear of sway arm and control arm bushings, which are also called A-arm bushings or wishbone bushings, but there are actually several different places for bushings to be located between the suspension and the frame. These parts take a lot of wear and tear and may deteriorate much more quickly if you regularly drive in challenging conditions. If your bushings are failing, you may notice: excess road noise; excess vibration; odd sounds coming from the wheel fenders; loose steering; and frame rattling. However, these symptoms can also indicate other problems with your suspension system.
